Enhabit in Action: Our core company values

Caring for communities

When you’re in need of work-related guidance, where do you look to? Chances are you reflect on the company’s purpose and values to give you an idea of how you should approach a situation.

Values are an essential part of an organization. They make up a company’s fundamental beliefs, guiding how people behave and make decisions as an organization.

Enhabit Home Health & Hospice understands the importance of centering our values around our employees’ feedback. In an effort to give space to all employee perspectives, Enhabit gathered ideas and input by way of workshops, surveys and focus groups to identify the company’s values.

This collaborative approach resulted in a shared set of six core values that align both our organizational values and our employees’ values with our business strategy.

The Enhabit in Action logo is a checkmark inside of a star-like shape.

Enhabit in Action

At Enhabit, our purpose is to provide high-quality, compassionate care to every patient wherever they call home. This purpose statement drives everything we do, uniting the company and creating an emotional connection.

Our values, or what we call Enhabit in Action, help us live out Enhabit’s purpose, setting behavioral expectations, guiding decision making and acting as the foundation for our culture.

“These values represent our fundamental beliefs and guide how we behave and make decisions as an organization. A defined set of shared values ensures that all team members understand how to provide high-quality care, work better together, strengthen our relationships and make a lasting impact on all those we serve.”

We believe our people are our greatest asset. We value the diversity they bring, and want every employee to feel welcomed, valued, respected and heard. We believe in celebrating our people and are committed to balancing the important work we do with their personal lives.

“When we take care of our people, it allows them to provide a better way to care for our patients.”

Enhabit Value 2: Integrity

We are dedicated to doing what is right at all times. We understand the importance and impact of our work, which is why we approach everything we do with honesty and integrity.

“Here at Enhabit, we exemplify integrity by having candid but respectful and kind conversations, even when someone needs help or is struggling. We’re not blaming or shaming. We are understanding their perspective and learning their process and how we can help them from there.”

Enhabit Value 3: Compassion

We focus on building meaningful relationships so that we can provide high-quality, compassionate care to every patient. We are committed to treating our patients and their loved ones with kindness, dignity and respect.

“Compassion in the workplace looks a lot like going to someone’s home, meeting them in a vulnerable situation and walking away from those visits knowing that the best thing I can provide to them is an ear to listen. It’s not always about the physical therapy I provided but the intangibles of care, love, respect and a lot of times that changes how someone is doing for the better.”

Enhabit Value 4: Excellence

We are always learning and improving so that we can expand what’s possible for patient care in the home. We hold ourselves to the highest standard by pursuing quality and excellence in all that we do.

“Excellence means to me doing things the best way that you can, always learning new things so that you can do more for your patients and just doing the right thing.”

Enhabit Value 5: Teamwork

We value collaboration and are intentional about working together so that every team member feels supported. We leverage the diverse experiences and expertise of each employee to collectively meet the needs of all those we serve.

“Teamwork to me means an opportunity to pull on everyone’s strengths. There are going to be times when I am not as knowledgeable or as strong in a certain area and that’s when we need each other. To really come together and make sure that everybody is able to provide the best possible care at the best possible time for our patients.”

Enhabit Value 6: Communication

We expect transparent and respectful communication. We believe frequent, positive communication helps us connect with patients, their loved ones and each other.

“To me, communication is the means in which we interact and engage with others. I’ve found that direct, timely and respectful communication is always the recipe for success. It keeps everyone in the loop, it keeps our jobs running smoothly and it ensures our patients are taken care of.”

Jenny, marketing project manager
